If you are considering trading or buying equiptment from a user here are some steps I would recomend.
1. Don't be afraid to check the user out. Ask him or her, point blank questions. See if they will give you a e-mail, phone number and street address. 2. Use thier addresses to check up on them. E-mail them, send the a letter ect. If they give you a phone number call them ask them questions. Where did they get the equiptment, how long have they had it, what shape is it in ect. 3. Have a freind call them to ask the same questions. Compare answers. Due they match? 4. Don't send any money thru the mail. I would even question a money order. ( You can track these but its not the easiest thing to get the banks to do.) If you use a money order pay the extra and get it from a bank not a local Dairy Mart. 5. Ask them to except PAYPAL. This will help you in the event of a scam. 6. Ask for references. I legit seller will not mind being asked this question. They know you are worried about the transaction. 7. Request a serial number if you are buying a gun. You may want to call the gun manufactor. Ask them if the serial number is reported stolen. 8. Keep your eye out for HOT equiptment! 9. Its a great idea to buy asset tags for your gear. These tags are made by many stores. These tags will (VOID IF PEELED) You can have your name and number printed on them. 10. Don't flash your guns around to much. Don't brag about the amount of money you put into the gun. That will draw the thiefts.

Niether have I.
Another tip...DON'T RUSH INTO A TRADE. If they ask you to ship "same time", don't! No matter how much feedback they show you, it is very easy for you to ship your item out and them not ship their's. Take time in the trade to make sure that it is legit. I got my dm4 stolen in a trade and we shipped "SAME TIME"....yeah sure. Make sure their feedback is actually their feedback. Make sure AIM s/n's match, talk to the people who have left feedback. On forums, are all of the joined dates on the feedbacks the same? That's not a good sign. They could all be him under different names or they can be friends. 3rd parties work great, but MAKE SURE it is a reliable one, not one of their buddies. Mods on well known forums work well. Get a neutral party.
