Simple question. Tell me why you think it is or is not a sport. I'll tell you my opinion after I hear some responses.

Yea it is, I think so because it requires alot of thinking, planning and it requires you to be fit as well . I mean you have to be able to hit a distance and at the same time measure the angle at which you hit the ball. Definetly a sport. Infact its one of the highest paying ones.

I disagree. How do you have to be fit? Fat guys play on the pro tour. I love golf, dont get me wrong, but I think of it more as a skilled game. Sports to me involve being athletic.

paintball is by all means a sport. It involves athletic ability or you'll get killed. Look at the fat guys that play, most of them suck.

You are looking at the word "sport" in too much a physical way..there is no real set in stone way to explain a sport. Chess is a sport. Just because you are heavy set, means nothing about you being in shape. I have a person on my paintball team who is heavy set and he can still make the runs, and still dive into the ladder/snake if he needs to. Sport isn't about the physical nature of games. Sport includes physical nature, the mind. In any sport, you need to think and react. you can't just do that when your in shape. These sorts of things include your MIND!

No offense to you in anyway. We all have the right to our own opinions. But I honestly think it's a bit on the ignorant side :-/ .

Chess a sport?? Sport is a clear cut definition that you should look up. Please do not confuse it with the term "competition". There is a new trend in our society to call everything dealing with competition a "sport"...i.e. Sport Fishing....HAHAHA. wtf. That's way off...considering the fact that the "playing field" is not equal to all players. The archaic term of sport is the true meaning of the word. In this sense...a sufficient amount of exertion along with equal playing boundaries is a must.

This stupid neo-sport trend is a fallacy. And if you think strip poker is a sport too then you can kiss it because that is a huge disgrace to the athletics as we know it!
Here is the best way i can describe my point. This was said by somebody from a tennis forum where there was a big debate on this.

im kinda inbetween. it doesnt take to much exertion, but it does take skill and practice to drive a ball.
