"We were wrong about Hussein's WMD capability. We thought he was a
threat but it turns out that there is no evidence that he was. We deeply apologize for the false assumptions we made that lead to our attack on Iraq. However, what is done is done. The only thing we can do now is to try and rectify the damage we have caused. To that end, I am today asking that all the nations of the world aid us in establishing a new government in Iraq that will be in accord with the wishes of the people of that country. In return, the US government will forgo any claims to Iraqi oil and will rescind any contracts currently in effect between our government and private US corporations. Moving forward, the redevelopment of Iraq, including any rebuilding contracts, will be overseen by the United Nations with the United States having no more say in this process than, say, Eritrea. Thank you, and may God bless the United Nations." -Skip |
