The marine who mistook a small british child for a woman:
This could be seen by many as yet another reason to kill americans abroad. The hero has already messed with two twelve year olds in the USA. But your law did not prosecute the hero. You may sexually abuse your own or simply issue warning to those that do. But if you mess with kids abroad and you could be seen by many as yet another reason to kill americans abroad. Guess you'll fly him home to safety. Won't do anything for your increasing body count. You can count on that. |

The vast majority of Americans are appalled at what our government is doing
around the world. It's too bad we don't give you any means of determining the difference between good Americans and bad Americans. Maybe we could wear a uniform, something like a brown shirt with some sort of insignia within a red circle on the left sleeve. -- I bet that old crackpot Copernicus started one hell of a flame war when he questioned the geo-centric model of the solar system. The problem is the polls. Most people were happy to see the US government and the people as being separate.....as long as most people opposed invading Iraq. But once the invasion started and approval (!!) went over 70%, it became very hard to see any distinction any more. Those of us who know Americans (who live in the US) personally also find that we spend time having to argue the facts.......which often becomes the ones we know that no one in the US has been told about. Most American's support Bush. The ones that don't need to work a bit harder and donate more money to support alternatives. Start by turning the TV *off*. There will be no easy road back to being a real democracy. You're going to have to fight for it....and their may be personal costs associated with that. Above all - integrity is required. It is abuindantly clear that at the highest levels in the US government there is no integrity. None....and Democrats are just as guilty as Republicans. If the US had a genuinely democratic electoral system, none of this would be happening. www.fairvote.org/pr/index/html -- Steve -- "Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country." - Hermann Goering, Nazi Reichsmarshall |
