It's obvious you do not know who Canibus is, if so, you'll know that he's not some street-thug rapper. |

That's someone else's... Then the original poster misrepresented his quote. Not a surprise... >> Well it makes me feel much better knowing that we're arming and >> training enraged, homicidal bigots so they can live out their >> sadistic fantasies. Fo' shizzle... > > 1) How is he enraged? I'm going by the general tone of what's been posted here. I'm thinking that Canibus (or whoever is being quoted here) is a bit angry at someone, considering that he wants to "com(e) out blastin' / Military four fashion." Maybe I'm mistaken... :-) > 2) How is he a bigot? Uh, let's see..."Lurkin' to leave y'all with bloody red turbans / Screamin' "Jihad!" while y'all pray to a false god." Sounds like he has a problem with people who wear turbans and pray to a god he doesn't believe in. Am I really that far off-base in assuming that the guy is a bigot? > 3) What saidstic fantasy is he trying to live out. "Razor blades cut ya face and leave a scar so you remember me / Lurkin' to leave y'all with bloody red turbans." > It's obvious you do not know who Canibus is, if so, you'll know that > he's not some street-thug rapper. No, I really don't know a lot about Canibus. I can only judge the guy based on what I've read of his lyrics, which I would assume are a reflection of what he thinks, taken in the context of the fact that the guy enlisted in the military. If these are in fact somebody else's lyrics and a misrepresentation of his true beliefs and feelings, then I'm obviously calling the wrong guy a homicidal bigot. This really has nothing to do with the idea that Canibus is a "street- thug rapper." I feel the same when guys like Toby Keith and Charlie Daniels say things like this in their songs, talking about putting their boots up the asses of "ragheads" and stuff like that. -- Michael Nash - aa # 1651 ******************* "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." --Teddy Roosevelt (Kansas City Star, 7 May 1918) "The Three Branches of Government: Money, Television, and Bullshit" --P. Okay, so from what you're saying, the genocidal bigot is someone else, which speaks better for Canibus from my point of view (though I would still take issue with Canibus allowing lyrics like the previous ones being put on one of his tracks). >> This really has nothing to do with the idea that Canibus is a >> "street- thug rapper." > > Are you saying that Canibus is a "street-thug rapper" or saying that > none of this points to that. Actually, he's pretty much > been shunned by the industry because his content is not what everyone > else deals with so the average Joe finds it un-interesting. They say > you should not have to pay attention to lyrics to understand him. Well, I'll apologize because I could have done a much better job of phrasing myself. I was trying to say that my problem with him had nothing to do with the question of whether he is a "street-thug rapper" or not, which I didn't really consider relevant to the issue I took with the lyrics that were posted. I have no familiarity with his music at all other than what's been posted in this thread, so I couldn't possibly speak with any authority about which genre he falls under. And since you've pointed out that the lyrics are someone else's, my condemnation was misdirected at the wrong person anyway, so... In any event, if the lyrics you posted above are indicative of the rest of his work, he's definitely not a "street-thug rapper," which is probably one of the reasons he's shunned by the music industry - they're looking for people who are cut from the same old cookie cutters. I imagine the average listener would probably find guys like Canibus more interesting if they were given a wider exposure to their music, but unfortunately the recording industry prefers to direct most of their marketing effort toward the shit that they can churn out in mass quantities... Even though you don't seem to be in the hip-hop scene, you do seem to know how it is. If you're different, you're an outcast... > I > imagine the average listener would probably find guys like Canibus more > interesting if they were given a wider exposure to their music, but > unfortunately the recording industry prefers to direct most of their > marketing effort toward the shit that they can churn out in mass > quantities... One line that sums this up came from Canibus: ========================== The auditory Pavlovian conditioning is so sickening ========================== If you ever have a free moment, check out his website. You might be shocked that a rapper can actually touch on numerous subjects such as Super-String theories, Claude Shannon's "A Mathematical Theory of Communication", T Tauri Component Sb and many other wildly varied topics. The funny thing is, people say he's a one trick pony. I guess constantly talking about women (preferably known as bitches in thug vernacular) and clubs means you're varied, while the other subjects I mentioned mean you stick to one topic.
