"Rumsfeld, in a grueling day of testimony, agreed with senators that a
greater NATO role in Iraq made sense, and said that he would even support troop contributions from France and Germany despite the bitter split over their opposition to the war. Yet, General Tommy Franks, the departing head of the U.S. Central Command, indicated at the same hearing that no substantial reductions in the U.S. force level were likely for the 'foreseeable future'". (http://www.iht.com/articles/101740.html) Iraq $3.9b/month "revised upward..." Afghan $0.9b/month "...even in the course of the day" =========== $4.8b/month Let's see if France and Germany can be a touch more business-like and require a plan and a budget. |

The whole basis of the CAP is about as moronic as invading Iraq ($600b) instead of simply putting a price on Saddam's head ($0.025b) and the effect on developing countries is a lot worse. It's bad enough that they destroy whole economies and induce poverty through the CAP system but they can't even COUNT it properly. The link is tenous, I admit. Call it "incalculable damage" |

Call it "incalculable damage" > "In the period from 2001 to 2002, America's 25,000 cotton farmers received more in subsidies — some $3 billion — than the entire economic output of Burkina Faso, where two million people depend on cotton. Further, United States subsidies are concentrated on just 10 percent of its cotton farmers. Thus, the payments to about 2,500 relatively well-off farmers has the unintended but nevertheless real effect of impoverishing some 10 million rural poor people in West and Central Africa".
