Monday Storms Drop Golf Ball Sized Hail POSTED: 6:07 p.m. CDT July 7, 2003 UPDATED: 12:40 p.m. CDT July 8, 2003 DES MOINES, Iowa -- Severe thunderstorms streaming across central Iowa Monday dropped golf ball sized hail on many towns including Newton and Des Moines. NewsChannel 8 meteorologist John McLaughlin said the storms were concentrated in a couple county wide line just north and south of Interstate 80. McLaughlin said the main threat from the storms was large hail. Heavy rain also was reported with the storms. Storms are expected to continue Tuesday. Storm Reports Des Moines: Golf ball sized hail as large as 3 inches was reported near the state Capitol in downtown Des Moines. Street flooding was also reported across the metro and on Interstate 235 near downtown (pictured, top right). Traffic in both west and eastbound lanes was backed up as drivers slowed down to pass through the deep water near the Des Moines River bridge. Newton Golf ball sized hail reported and captured on pictures (pictured, right) by Brian Curtis. |

Yes, we had a storm and some hail. We get storms like this every summer.
Are you saying this was caused by AGW? YOU didn't get hail that punched dents in your car, broke your windshield, smashed through your roof, killed some of your livestock, and shredded your crops, asshole, or you wouldn't be making light of these tragedies. The evidence is now too big. 560 tornadoes may not be enought to wake you from your hypnotic trance, but every BLOODY NOSE from Global Warmining weather chaos, sucks more voters out of the RED ZONE back to reality. Your "environmental president" can't save your ass when its your turn to be homeless. You made money your god -- now pray to your money, you republican nature-hating sack of shit. There are more areas flooded in the year 2003 in the first six months than in any year for which data has been kept going back to 1985. 2005 still has six months to go. Psalm, I sympathize with your frustation, but what good does it do for
anyone's cause, including that of environmental sanity, when you as an environmentalist yell at people and call them names? Also, what does it prove in the way of logic? Nothing. I can't pretend to be a Christian, but I'm struck by the passage in the Old Testament - maybe it's in Chronicles, or Judges, or somewhere in there? - where Elijah is in a battle with the priests of Baal and goes into a cave to pray to God for guidance about it. What my Revised Standard Version says is that Elijah prays and prays, and there is a tremendous earthquake - "But God was not in the earthquake." And he prays some more, and there is a huge storm - "But God was not in the storm." And then he prays some more, and there arises a "still, small voice." Yelling at people, cursing people, hating people is not going to convince them of anything - and it doesn't matter whether they deserve to be yelled at, either. God is not in the yelling or the curses, or in the earthquake or the tornado. But maybe the still small voice of reason has a chance. In sympathy - JohnAndrew -------- "K&N" <unlisted@netins.net> wrote in message news:<belcma$15v$1@ins22.netins.net>... > "Psalm 110" <Melchizedek@USA.com> wrote in message > news:2275a3c5.0307092320.4a4d2b59@posting.google.c om... > > "K&N" <unlisted@netins.net> wrote in message > news:<beiikr$ne$1@ins22.netins.net>... > > > Yes, we had a storm and some hail.
