Ed Asner's Santa Claus Controversy
Hollywood has plans to release a cutesy Christmas flick in November called "Elf." But the casting of Santa is making some folks see red. Ed Asner - the guy who has described the war in Iraq as racist, referred to the U.S. under President Bush's leadership as an imperialist government and heaped praise on tubby tyrant Fidel Castro - has the sugarplum role of jolly old St. Nick. Now a group called Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-America Hollywood (www.PABAAH.com) wishes someone else other than Asner would get to wear the Santa suit. Jon Alvarez, who formed PABAAH, tells me that "as for Asner and his 'blame America' attitude, we find it offensive that he is being cast as a beloved character like Santa Claus." Alvarez points out the contrast between Asner's success and wealth and his strange affection for a vicious dictator. He says: "If he dislikes the country that has afforded him the lifestyle and luxury that his earnings as a celebrity have afforded him, then maybe he should see how wonderful Cuba really is. I doubt he would be able to enjoy the freedoms he has here were he under Castro's rule." The Left Coast Report notes that if Asner does manage to hold onto the role of Santa, at least he'll be wearing a suit that's the right color. Left Coast Report |

And PABAAH (couldn't these nitwits have picked an acronym that actually
spelled something??) all 20 of them, are going to make Hollywood remove an actor from a role? What a joke. JJ, you just keep getting funnier and funnier. robw -- "Sing while you may" Edward Ka-Spel "JJWHITEJR" <jjwhitejr2002@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:3ef81e7d.3333795@news.sf.sbcglobal.net... > Ed Asner's Santa Claus Controversy > > Hollywood has plans to release a cutesy Christmas flick in November > called "Elf."
