I'm just curious if the previous Ego is still worth buying, for those of us who don't wanna spend the 12-1300 for the latest. And what upgrades would be necessary to make the old up to par with the new?

there truly is no difference between them just the 06 has: makeshift membrane pad, lower operating pressure, makeshift star frame (not the same as the ones on the xsv's and nexus egos), new milling, and a TAD bit lighter. id just save some money and buy the old one. oh and it has a new board but its not any better then an aftermarket board

you pretty much said it man...just some minor changes. BUT keep in mind if you have any intention of reselling it then 05's are dropping in price pretty crazy.

and you will notice with most paintball gun companies that their new markers usually only have minor changes. Dye usually also does this with the exception of the DM6 this year which they improved a ton.

Thanks for all the help. It's true, like you said that most guns don't really change except for minor things that can be improved. Most guns these days, the only thing companies are starting to do is work more on efficiency and performance, and are moving away from just speed. I just figure that the previous one's are just as fast and just as well built, and can be upgraded very easily. Hey look at the cocker, bare bones, most of them are all the same (minus the eblade) and I remeber when my friend still played for a while with his old '98 cocker, now he uses a DM4. But anyway, thanks for the advice.

the 06 doesnt use membraine pads. The 06 ego def has alot of ups compaired to the 05 ego. Is the 05 ego still worth owning. DEF! With a few ups your 05 will pretty much on the same leval as the 06.

some ups on the 06 are
better detents,
shorter bolt
star frame
new faster board with dbounce features
new reg (allows you to drop you operating preasure by 50psi)
