i've been drooling over the tippman A-5 in the shop where i buy my
paint. it is set up really nice (stock, scope, sling, flatline, etc....). looks so cool. well, sunday the owner allowed me to use it to play for the day. i was thrilled. i walked out onto the field feeling like rambo or something. beleiving that this gun was gona kick butt. to be honest it was super cool. the responce trigger and shoulder stock made it feel like an assualt weapon. the big let down for me was the barrel. it did make the ball travel alot further and i was able to cover my guys as they moved up to their objectives but... i couldn't hit a damn thing. the all was flying far but it sure didn't fly very straight. i saw that once the ball reached about the same distance as a "regular" barrel would go, it just floated to where ever it wanted to. i still had alot of fun and i still liked the feel of the A-5 but i was disappointed by it too. |

If it doesn't suit your purpose, don't buy into it. As for the Flatline, the point's not to get the ball out much farther; paintballs won't break at that range anyway. It's just to keep the trajectory flatter, and if you're a woods player with a low canopy, that's a *big* plus. On the other hand, the Flatline *needs* good paint to work well. Good paint works well, but bad paint gets *much* worse with the Flatline spin on it. -- Please note that due to cuts in the budget, the light at the end of the tunnel has been disconnected. --Management |

Yes, that is what you said. That's also what you say to every person that asks about buying a marker here. I didn't insult you by it, I just made a note. I went on from there to spout my usual response about the Flatline, so I really don't see where you have much place other than to politely point that out in response, which you just breezed right over. -- Please note that due to cuts in the budget, the light at the end of the tunnel has been disconnected. --Management |

"still liked the feel of the A-5 but i was disappointed
by it too" above spoken by unforgivin so tony sr responded in wise guy form ahem...buy one ! then went on to say try a proto then you will see...look tippman may be ok...flatline maybe 2...what i am saying to all the noobs is don't go out and through good money after bad money...also my choice would be the proto...tippman effect who has the best guns tippman can make or trick out and they still suck...please don't tell me a gun doesn't help a lot because the tippman players themselves are really good, but proto players seem to kick tippmans butt regular...sorry ,plain and simple ;-) "Matt Moriearty" <MathU41@tampabay.rr.com> wrote in message news:YJL0f.133897$xl6.34415@tornado.tampabay.rr.co m... > Tony Sr. wrote: > > MM....shut your pie-hole....all i said was ask his field owner if he could > > try a proto....i own a cocker and play with a non- electric one to > > boot...yes i like matrix very much...they are a PROVEN machine..if he tries > > one he will know the difference right away...new player can tell very fast > > also a good gun and a med gun.. > > Yes, that is what you said. Since he noted he was new, by telling him to 'test a proto', he wasn't even sure you meant the barrel or the marker. I do agree Matrixes are good guns, but now Dye's milking the reputation by putting out more than one type--which until now was all you needed, and modded if you *needed* it to work different for you. And no, I won't say markers don't help. The 'perfect' marker will set the game to rely *solely* on it's holders skills, and not have to compensate for any bad points--on the other hand, skill is still the largest part of the play, whether you like it or not. The Tippman players just need to deal with a heavier, bulkier marker and, in my opinion, part of their 'bad game' is that it's harder to get a Tippman to ramp, and they seem to be on the bottom of the cheater's list. I won't say they don't, just that they 1) don't cheat as often and/or 2) are so good at it that *I've* never seen one wipe, and they're dealing with the bulkier markers. Anyway, I'll state another point of mine again. At a recballer's level and budget, there's not as much of a reliance on equipment. If you suck holding an A5, you'll suck holding a Matrix. You won't suck any more with a Talon, but it will severely limit your skill, and make your sucking more *obvious*--after all, I play almost exclusively with my Phantom lately, and hit just as many players with Intimidators as I do M98's, proportionately speaking. -- Please note that due to cuts in the budget, the light at the end of the tunnel has been disconnected. --Management |

sorry MM, but that is like saying if you suck on that racecourse with
volksie, you will still suck with that Ferrari..gee all the tennis players should just stay with that cheep-o and play just as good as the guys with the 1500 racket...i really never knew that equip didn't do anything for the player...if you suck...you suck. ;-) "Matt Moriearty" <MathU41@tampabay.rr.com> wrote in message news:b3M0f.166850$p_1.86316@tornado.tampabay.rr.co m... > Tony Sr. wrote: > > "still liked the feel of the A-5 but i was disappointed > > by it too" > > above spoken by unforgivin so tony sr responded in wise guy form ahem...buy > > one ! then went on to say try a proto then you will see...look tippman may > > be ok...flatline maybe 2...what i am saying to all the noobs is don't go out > > and through good money after bad money...also my choice would be the > > proto...tippman effect who has the best guns tippman can make or trick out > > and they still suck...please don't tell me a gun doesn't help a lot because > > the tippman players themselves are really good, but proto players seem to > > kick tippmans butt regular...sorry ,plain and simple ;-) > > See, that's a little more helpful.
