has anyone ever heard of a SHERIDAN PAINT RIFLE ?
i recently saw a pic of one in a mag i picked up. it said nothing about it except "an oldschool sheridan paintrifle". it just looked super cool and now i want one :-) as i've said before, i've only been playing maybe a year (less if you count the months i stop playing for hunting season) and i do't know alot but, i've found that i tend to like the older style/model markers. i have no idea why. maybe just because everyone else wants the cutting edge top of the line stuff. then when i shoot them with a pump or "old school" marker it's like a serious rush. and i can get that "yeah i just nailed your ass with my old gun" look on my face :-) |

With their wooden stocks, they look more like shotguns than paintball guns. I've never owned one myself(one of the few truly cool guns to escape my collection), but I've played with more than a few of them. They are highly prized by their owners for their reliability and accuracy, and they have a fairly high collectible value, due to their uniqueness and rarity. It's not uncommon for a KP2 or KP3 to go for $200. On the other hand, if you find a bolt action KP, guard that thing like the holy grail itself. The original KP gun is VERY rare, VERY expensive and VERY collectable. As far as playing with them goes, I personally find them to be far too heavy to be easy to wield. I personally find it difficult to fire them accurately in situations where time is critically short, simply because it takes a relatively long time to bring the gun to a position to fire on opposition. If you're ready, though, every shot is dead nuts accurate(assuming the wielder can shoot straight, of course). The KP series of rifles are a series of guns that predate the PGP, PSC and many other sheridan guns. They are built to be rugged and reliable, and the fact that many look just like they did 20 years ago is a testament to their reliability. While I wouldn't opt to play with one on the field for an entire day, the coolness factor alone is enough for me to lug it out for a game at least once a session. I actually really regret not picking one up when they were far cheaper. -- Jeff Goslin - MCSD - www.goslin.info It's not a god complex when you're always right |

Getting a bit hard to find though, and the price is going up because they've become collectors items. They're a pain to take apart, and parts are becoming scarce, but Sheridans are tough as nails, take care of them and they'll go for years and years. However, this isn't exactly an easy paintgun to use in the sense that it's slow to load and fire, however cool it is, it's going to put you at a considerable disadvantage. I had a guy offer me one for fifty bucks awhile back, I didn't want it but I loaned the money to a kid who works for me so he could buy it. Interesting point is that police forces used them as shotgun trainers for years, Sheridan got a lot of flack when they discontinued the 12-gram version. |
