My buddies are all getting paint ball guns so I'm now looking at them. If
you had a price range of around 200 to 250 dollars for a gun what would you get. I've looked are on some web sites and the Tippmann a5 looks like a good choice, but whats some other good choices. Thanks for any advice. |

The spyders and piranhas will be electric and go reasonable fast, but the Tippmann !-5 will have more up-grades and be pretty cool looking, if you are into that of course. In the mourning, I will giver you some more exact links. |

Remember most young people will either brag about what they have (mine is better than yours) or will be looking at the price tags (thinking it costs more it has be better). When you are at a field see if someone will let you fire their marker. I have done it in the past. When I first started if I wanted to shoot someone else's I would bribe them with a free bag of paint. They almost always go for it. Remember though if you break it you buy it(In other works take care of other peoples equipment). If you have any friends that are currently heavy into the sport go to a field with them and I am sure they know someone that will let you fire them. get an ion.
they're on backorder, but they are awesome. do not under any circumstances buy a wgp trilogy autococker. buy used and save cash also. on ebay you can find some sick markers for 250... also keep in mind, that before you buy a marker, you first purchase is a mask. the more expensive ones with thermal lenses will fog up a lot less = better gameplay. |

Hey thanks, lots of good info. Where in a small town so no paintball
fields around here to really try out guns and my friends are just buying them at Wal-Mart so far. I've tried them out some and they do pretty good. I've been looking mostly on E-Bay for used ones ,but there are thousands of them and really not sure of the best guns to be looking for in my price range. To me I have rather buy a better used gun at a great used price than a new gun at the same price. So far it looks like a lot of used Tippmann A5's are for sale so if there are any more guns that perform better than a A5 that people think I might get at a great used price on. So any more suggestions. I'll check out the ION and see how they look. Thanks again. The ION is a great little marker and I plan on buying one in a couple of weeks just for the fun of it. I will more than likely keep it just for a second primary paintball marker and for friends and family that visit. My neighbor has one and I love it. However I will be keeping my A-5. They are totally customizable and with the new equalizer board coming out for the e-grip it will be hard to beat. Remember though any marker you buy first thing is get a good mask/goggle system, a tank/bottle, hopper, barrel sock/condom and then any little extras or upgrades are after the fact. The ION is sold alone and you will need to buy an air tank/bottle, hopper and goggle system. Check the link below to see my A-5 as it is now. Maybe more to be added later. I want to put a 98 custom flatline on it instead of the A-5 one (Just to check it out :-)) Hardtime http://www.geocities.com/arcticjohn88/arcticjohn88 |

I like it very much. I have used it in all aspects of paintball
(scenario, airball and hyperball) and I love it. You either love it or hate it is what most people say. I have mine set dead on and have learned all the ins and outs. They are more sensitive to the paint played in them and the velocity as they do put a backspin on the ball. For a fairly good and short jest, visit: http://www.tippmann.com/systems/flatline.asp People say they are too finicky. It is actually because the barrel actually uses the friction and curve within it to cause the backspin. They will more readily show you what is bad or poorly manufactured paintballs. Anything with rough seems or a bad shell/fill can cause an issue. This is also somewhat true for other markers but remember they perform basically a shot put scenario to get the ball down range and the flatline puts a spin so it is like spinning an egg on the counter top. You quickly find out which is hard boiled and which is raw. This for the most part occurs when other markers balls are already having to be arched pretty badly. I love mine and would not trade it for any other marker. I also have a model 98 w/flatline and it even shoots a little further and is dead on in accuracy. I have not busted/chopped a ball in either marker in the last 4000 paintballs. I have tried other barrel combinations on it and I will stick with the flatline setup. I have a friend that just bought one for the accuracy alone. I would point out that one definitely needs practice with a flatline to enjoy it. I shoot the A-5 at about 275-285fps and the 98 at approx 265-285fps. I really enjoy the turn the marker sideways and place it behind a bunker on the curve. It is truly satisfying to hear someone yelling "That Ain't Right" when they think they are safe behind the bunker and you hit them with the curve ball. If you have any questions I have a bunch of news posts on the fact and fiction of flatlines. Most of the time when someone hates the flatline it is because they do not have the patience to learn how to use it or the common since to understand how it actually works. Hey that's great about the flat line, I have seen some used A5's on e-bay
with a flatline barrel on them and think I should make a bid for them. The type of paint ball games we would play are just out in some woods with maybe two forts and flag captures, so not to well informed about the different types of games, could you explain what scenairo, airball, hyperball and woods play are and the type of guns I would want for these, Thanks again "Hardtime" <hardtime11@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:a5fsa11giuivpfv7m588lsejols5lsoueu@4ax.com... >I like it very much. I have mine set dead on and have >> learned all the ins and outs. >> Scenario - Is like a mission/objective type game where you capture/defend a fort, play sniper, take out in the woods and such. A lot like playing military or patriots against another team. Scenarios can be timed events ranging from 1/2 hour to several days (typically 1 day) Scenario in general check out: http://www.warpig.com/paintball/recreational/psg.shtml Airball & X-Ball - Is where you have inflatable bunkers that you utilize for cover to take out the other team and basically to make it to the other end of the field while taking out the other team. These bunkers are more pliable, which let you wrap around them and can somewhat mold around you. A field is normally approximately 80-100 feet wide and about 160-200 feet long (NPPL 100x180 feet). The number of bunkers on the field depict the number of players per game such as 3-5-7-10 man teams. You see these on the TV a lot and normally have a 2-4 minute time limit. Hyperball - Is similar to Airball however they utilize more permanent type of bunkers such as large culvert pipes, storage tanks and such. Since the paintballs almost always break against hard objects it is little bit easier to intimidate people on the field and keep them tucked in while you move and cover against your opponents. This fields really vary in size from about 50' x 100 up to including scenario size as a lot of times on big scenario games they are actually part of the playing field. They are normally the size of an airball field. These games depending on the size of the field are normally go as long as the Airball & X-ball. Speedball - for the most part is another name for Hyperball, Check out this link to see some fairly good fields for comparison: http://www.oldriverpaintball.com/facilities/index.htm Here is an overall document on the different games that I just found before posting this: http://www.directpaintball.com/artic...all_games.html Hardtime http://www.geocities.com/arcticjohn88/arcticjohn88 |
