Hey all,
I have been paintballing for several years now, and have been kicking around a scuba fill station for my HPA tanks. How much would a setup run me so that I could fill a couple of 70ishCI 4500 tanks several times, without refilling the scuba tank? Thanks for the input. -- If you're not living on the edge...you are taking up too much space. — Ted Valliere You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. I would recommend two bulk tanks, one for the low fill, and one for the high fill. You'll get far more fills off 2 tanks used in tandem than you could ever get off 2 individual tanks. It's hard to say how long ONE tank would last you because it depends directly on the remaining pressure in the small tank when you fill it up. If I had to guess, I would say you could get about 7 decent fills off a scuba tank. But you could probably get 30 decent fills off a tandem tank setup. YMMV. -- Jeff Goslin - MCSD - www.goslin.info It's not a god complex when you're always right |

You can get a used scuba tank for around $100.00 I got my fill stations from E-bay for about $20.00 |

Yea big shot Goslin, spread some of that vast knowledge you claim you have.
I knew Ronin was right about your I.Q. I bet he was right on about your paintball skill also. Admit it, the last time you pulled the trigger on a marker you shot yourself in the armpit didn't you. Seriously I would like to know more about this subject. Do you know where I can obtain this knowledge? Using the ideal gas law, assuming a perfectly closed system(no air loss at all), after 10 fills in a SINGLE TANK system, the pressure in the scuba tank will be 1500 psi. To reach 1500 psi in the tandem system, you get 24 fills. This assumes filling a 68ci 3K psi paintball tank from one or two regular 80 cf 3000psi scuba tanks, and filling the small paintball tank when the pressure is 750 psi. I assume that most people would opt to refill their tanks before then, but the point is that in the tandem system, one scuba tank gets depleted pretty quick, but the other stays relatively full, and is used to top off the tanks. You should only REALLY need to fill ONE scuba tank at a time in the tandem system(when you need a bulk tank refill). The OTHER scuba tank could then be used as the bulk fill one next time and the newly filled one as the topper offer... To be honest with you, I didn't check the numbers when I originally posted, so "7 and 30", as opposed to 10 and 24. It's more than double, that's what the point was. If you really want to see the spreadsheet I made a while ago, I'll be happy to email it to you for you to play around with. There's room for up to 3 scuba tanks used in series. -- Jeff Goslin - MCSD - www.goslin.info It's not a god complex when you're always right |

So, it's before a game is about to start, and I've got my PGP in hand, I'm ready to go, then we hear the game is slightly delayed. Some kid asks me something about my gun, and I want to show off, so I start twirling the gun backwards, which was fine. Then I started twirling the gun FORWARDS. The only problem with that was that the safety was off, and the weight of the gun was MORE than enough to allow the pressing of the trigger. Woops. On the very first downswing of the gun, it fired into my groin. I got hit on the inside of my leg to the right of my balls. Fun stuff. And yes, I *DID* feel like an idiot. ![]() > Seriously I would like to know more about this subject. Do you know where I > can obtain this knowledge? Check out the fill station that I got. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll... 837&rd=1This part fits into the scuba tank and is held in place by the built inscrew. You click your tank to the fill nipple, make sure the relief valve onthe fill station is off. Then slowly turn on the valve on the scuba tank. When the air equalizes, shut off the scuba tank and open the relief valve. Now take your tank off. Repeat this process on the 2nd scuba tank to top offyour system if you have one.Check with your local scuba store to buy your new tanks and make surethey'll fill them for you. It should cost you around $5.00. I would alsocheck with them to get some education about high pressure. It can bedangerous if you don't know what you're doing. |
