We played "Stalingrad" this weekend at Skirmish. It was brutal. There was
about a foot of snow on the ground and it was cold. History was re-wrote as
the German team won the game. But it didn't matter everyone had a great
time. I personally was shot out about eleven times but I shot out around
twenty five for the day. If I kill more people than kill me a call it good
day. The one thing that bothered me was I saw a few people that had holes
shot in their hoppers. I'm trying to figure out if that was because the
cold weather made the hoppers more brittle or if it was some idiot turning
up his gun. All in all it was a great day but by about nine o'clock at
night I was freezing and exhausted and was glad to get back in the truck and
out of the cold.

The cold weather will effect materials such as hoppers, masks etc. That is
why quality products over price should be considered when playing in weather
extremes. This holds true for extreme cold and heat.

The paintballs don't freeze (impossible with their current content) but will
still deliver their normal force in cold weather, the problem is "cheaper"
materials used to reduce cost turn brittle. Also hoppers, masks etc cleaned
with chemicals not suitable can be weakened.

I put a ZAP Sport ball in my freezer last night and it almost froze solid.
It wouldn't break when thrown on the sidewalk and it was hard as heck.

I think Zap is water based. Most older paints aren't.
