Hi All

I belong to a group of guys who play paintball fairly frequently on an
open piece of land. We usually play skirmish type games or capture the
flag type of games. The length and fun-level of these games is usually
defined by the terrain. We play in grassland and bush.

We now have the opportunity to play on a site that has a disused house
on it. I am interested in creating some simple scenarios to be played.
We are looking at SWAT and hostage-drame/rescue types of games, but I
was wondering whether anyone has experience in playing in a house or
has some ideas of what sorts of game we could play. The number of
players would probably be about 20.

You cna check out some pictures of the venue at

Thanks in advance

predator is a pretty decent game we play a lot.
1 guy goes around and hunts down 20 or so guys...
the predator needs to be shot in the head twice within a "reasonable"
period (definition of reasonable is up to you)
(usually he gets a good 3/4 of the opposing team before someone gets
him)

also, for indoor (house) play TURN YOUR SPEED DOWN. you're in much
closer quarters so the chance of injury is much greater (so lower your
fps down to reduce it)

If you're playing in that house you'd better spend a couple days cleaning up
the mess - there's probably all sorts of rusty nails and sharp objects in
that crap on the floor. It's all fun till someone gets a nail through the
kneepad...

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to have a look at the site this
weekend, and will arrange a work crew to remove all the rubble and get
rid of any dangerous items.

Get rid of the loose rubble and nails and whatnot, but it's important to
leave some cover around the room. Otherwise, it's not so much the room that
is important, it's just the entrances to the room, meaning that using the
room involves two guys standing in two doorways. Kinda boring.

We're planning on hauling in some pallets and maybe a drum or two as
extra cover inside the house. I am also looking at installing some
extra cover around the house, so that players can approach the house
without getting shot to pieces.

Look up this book at Amazon or Half Priced Books:

"50+ Ways to Play with Your Paintballs" by Scott Malensek

The Predator scenario is a good one. You can add a twist by making your
predator contagious - anyone shot by the predator turns into one.
Nothing like having to face a dozen predators coming at you in a group
with two guys backing you up and only a couple of lone wolf humans left
scattered across the field - knowing at any time one of your buddies
will turn and start shooting at you too.

Downed pilot is also a good one - one or two people head out to the far
side of your area armed only with 10 round hand guns and have to make it
through "enemy lines" to be successful - remember "Blackhawk Down"?
Structures make ideal "checkpoints" that the pilots have to get past, or
steal something from.

Hostage scenarios in buildings are also very fun, especially when you
add the possibility of your hostage being "turned" by the kidnappers or
the kidnappers killing the hostage.

Body Guard situations are also fun - either mobile or stationary; The
opposite of Hostage. A small group guard one unarmed "VIP" while
everyone else tries to eliminate the VIP. To keep the game going we
allow "dead" guards to return after they leave the field and wait 5 minutes.

We have also been developing a "Drug Lord" scenario where we break into
3 teams - The Drug Lord and his cronies, DEA agents, and the local
peasants. The peasants are armed only with pumps, handguns, and small
hopper semi autos with no additional carry on rounds, while the drug
lord and DEA have whatever they can field. Drug lords have to establish
supply chains from their manufacturing labs to drop points, the DEA have
to disrupt all drug lord activities and if possible, wipe out the HQ.
The peasants have the options of working for or against either or both
sides, and neither side knows where the peasants loyalties lie. The drug
lord needs to negotiate raw materials from the locals, the DEA need
information. Old socks filled with dirt or some other cheap props make
up the raw materials and finished goods. This scenario requires a full
turn out of people and a weekend to play, including night ops.

The building looks cool - I have a bad case of site envy now. I would be
very interested in seeing some follow up pictures and hear some war
stories.

Ouch! I've run nails through my foot on more than one occasion, but never
into my knee.
