Hi.
Has anyone here ever tried a high pressure hand pump to refill an HPA tank?
I want to try HPA instead of CO2 so I can shoot in winter, but where I live,
you have to have a dive certificate to get a scuba tank refilled....stupid
policy.

I was searching for other methods and came across this high pressure hand
pump that is used for air rifles. It creates 3000 PSI, which is right for
paintabll tanks, but I'm not sure if the threads are the same.

If the threads are the same as an HPA tank, it should work with a little
lebow grease. The price is certainly better than a scuba tank.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks

Pumping volume is 14ci per stroke.

At that rate, it would take almost 1400 strokes to fill a 63ci bottle
from empty to 4500 psi.

(A 63ci bottle has an internal volume of 63ci. At 4500 psi, there is
63ci/14.7psi*4500psi = 19,286 ci or about 11 cubic feet.
19286ci/14ci/stroke = 1374 strokes.)

Filling from 450psi to 4500psi will still take over 1000 strokes.
Assuming you get (let's be generous) 1000 shots out of that bottle,
that's still *fewer than one shot per stroke.*

A brand new SCUBA tank with a couple of fills is under $150.. usually
$130 or so. You can pick up used tanks for as little as $50. And you
wouldn't need to take an hour in between each game to wear your arms the
**** out with a stupid ass pump.

HAve you explained to them what you are using the tank for, MOST dive shops,
once they see you are using it for pball will fill it.
also see if they will fill a pb hp tank, if they'll fill a tank for a
marker, they may be ersuaded to fill a scuba.

There are only two dive shops within a hundred miles of me and neither of
them will fill a paintball tank. Believe me, I've tried explaining very
nicely to them, but they just won't do it.
This is why I'm looking for an alternative.

I guess I'll stick with CO2 and just wait for warmer weather.
Thanks for the iput folks.

Trying to play in the cold with CO2? If you have a 'gun that can take
it, run siphon.
