My first question is... what is the etymology of the term "I got gayed"...?

I bought a new HPA tank from someone on eBay, its a PureEnergy 45/88. Guy
says its working great blah blah blah... So i bid and get for like $130, its hydro is 4/02 so i got some time on it. Now, i get it today, open the box, looks good, packaged very well, tank looks brand new. So im like ok good... Now i dont have scuba tanks in my house and I wanna test this thing out. So I get my old tank out, a PureEnergy 3000/48, and use my remote line to put some air in the new empty one. I start filling, and i hear hisssssss, im like ah GAY MAN! The tank is leaking from the valve pin, so im pissed off and saying man i got gayed up, blah blah blah. So I figure, lemme call PMI and see what I can do first. I say i just bought a new tank, and its leaking from the pin, he goes, ok, gimme your name and address, ill send u the o-rings and springs and everything that u can change (i guess for free), so im like ok cool. Then after I hang up, i figure, lemme take the bonnet off to see if there is anything wrong that i can see... So i open it up, everything looks fines, all o-rings look good and what ever... Then im thinking if i get new parts and put them in, and it still dosent work, then i gotta fight this guy to get my $ back wich sucks. THEN i was thinking, maybe the new tank isnt getting enough pressure from my old one to lock the valve pin. So i call PMI back up and ask what is the minimum pressure there needs to be in the tank for the pin to lock in place, and he says about 500 PSI. So i say ok... I go back to the tanks, but this time, instead of feeding air in slowly into the new one, i think, lemme turn the crank on the old bottle in all the way to get the 800-900 psi force into the new bottle... So I crank it up all the way, air is going in, and i dont hear any leaks, so im like ok cool. THEN, all of a sudden, BOOM, the hose from the Q/D pops off the new bottle ( i was stepping on the hose while filling just incase this happened). And then the leak from the pin is still going... wtf... I guess im just gonna replace and lube all the o-rings and stuff when they get here and then bring some where to get a real fill and see what happens... I hope the new parts from PMI work, or else im gonna have to fight this guy to get my $. I just wanted to share the story and see if anyone has any input on the subject, thanks to anyone who has any ideas or comments or has had a leaky pin valve before... |

Maybe I'm the only one who is irritated by teenagers either making up words out of the blue (agg comes to mind) or just say screw it and assign a new definition to a word on a whim. I guess that answers my question on why American English test scores are dropping in high schools across the nation. |

Interesting that we've all concluded that someone who doesn't want to speak standard English probably shouldn't be encouraged to mess with an HPA system.... |

Don't tell him after you've jacked around with it. Let's say you put in the parts from PMI and it turns out that that doesn't fix it. Then you've got to tell the seller that you messed with the tank and it doesn't work. *Rather* you should tell him it doesn't work and ask him what he wants you to do. If he's an honest seller, he'll say one of two things: "Send it back and I'll refund you your money" or "See if you can fix it and I'll give you a partial refund for your trouble." If it was an "as is" auction but the auction stated that the tank was good, then your tank isn't "as described" and you should be able to return it for a refund. If he's a jerk, he'll say "too bad" and hopefully you can fix it. If you can't, then you gotta take it up with Ebay or the company of your method of payment. -Bruce |
