I just read the articles on 68Caliber about the new cocker. You can get them
here, http://www.68caliber.com/news/industry/story04348.php
and here, http://www.68caliber.com/features/ed...story04352.php and
I've got to say I agree with Jeremy Garret in the last article that this may
be the death of the cocker. If production has moved and the guns have been
redesigned to integrate the three way then it's obviously a dumbing down of
the design in an attempt to snag Wal-Mart buyers and the like. His point
about the cocker being outdated is also pretty valid considering the
direction that the sport is moving in. Of course I believe there will be a
need for a mid to high end mechanical marker so in that sense the cocker
will never truly die, but with this new design WGP has taken themselves out
of that arena. I believe the aftermarket companies who continue to make
traditional cocker bodies will fill the gap WGP has left open by providing
upgradable milled bodies and parts unlike the 05's extruded and integrated
design.WGP itself has gone the way of the newb's and players packs in an
attempt to fatten up K2's bottom line.

here's one thing that has yet to be made clear to me...are they
discontinuing the cocker as we know it and moving ONLY to the trilogy...or
are they going to keep producing a fully 2k+ compatible gun? and what about
the karnivor and STO series then? surely that's not gonna be replaced with
that shitty little faded one...I contacted WGP via email to see about
clearing this up, but have yet to get a response...hopefully this is all
just a big PR nightmare and they aren't killing the occker as we know it...

As near as I can tell based on the articles the high end electro cockers
will continue for a while but it looks like the mechanical cocker as we know
it is dead.

I just can't see WGP doing this...I know their under K2 now, but they still
are WGP...they know internally that their new trilogy will be looked at as a
lesser gun...to cut the middle out of the market between this new trilogy
and the karnivor/orracle would be ludicrous...I guess we won't know the real
details until they start shipping, but I'd atleast expect to see something
like an aftermarket frontblock that can convert the new one back...even
though it is really hard to tell if there's even a seam there or
not...otherwise i guess mill shops will just start hacking them back into
shape...I suppose this could all be a way to end some of the
knockoffs...they probably have a decent patent scheme on the new
design...although I've already seen some import guns sporting a single piece
pneumatics housing...it was on the tinkerer's guild just last night
