The old timers will remember Idema Combat Systems vests, produced by Keith
Idema, out of Fayetteville, NC. Keith was a force in paintball in the late
80's and early 90's, before running afoul of the feds, and spending some time
at a federal prison.

Anyway, he made the news again. It seems he popped up in Afghanistan, and
in an article credited to the New York Times, and published in the Tampa
Tribune, 11 July, page 5-A, Jonathan Keith Idema was arrested with two other
Americans, and accused of running his own vigilante anti-terrorist campaign in
Kabul. Authorities said that Idema, 48, and the two others, posed as
government officials, and illegally imprisoned at least eight innocent Afghan
men for 10 days or more

I would venture a SWAG (scientific wild-ass-guess) that the full story can
be found on the Tampa Tribune site, which it shares with WFLA-TV, Channel 8,
http://www.tbo.com

Tax evation or some such wasn't it? Can't remember the details. Lots of
nastiness about him stickin it to suppliers of ICS as well.

I still think his finest moment was when he gave ol Fast Eddie Dovner a poke
in the nose. Hehe

Fraud, he created a shell company and used it to buy a lot of stuff on
credit and then sold the merchandise to keep his real companies alive, it
finally caught up with him and he did some time. A seriously weird cat.

Ya I remeber him from the ICS vests.. It was funny.. when I read the newpaper
account... even though it was only a small blurb, I was like Jonathon K Idema..
oh yeah.. that sounds just like the K. Idema I knew of from ICS..
interesting.. went from doing time, to running a prison of sorts..
