with the A5 down due to stripped plastic part in the feeder I broke out the
old Component Concepts Phantom pump I gotta say this was the best day paint balling i've had in a while. Everyone is loaded with air, various kick ass modern electros one game I got *everyone* out -- it was unfreaking believable. Ok one game I got chumped with a lucky shot but overall the the phantom owned the day. Man I'm thinking about using this more often. For one thing I put an old 7 oz c02 with buttplate and a single hopper -- no packing around a billion pods and remotes with 20 oz tanks n shit.. I bearly went through 1 hopper in 4 games -- the beut was when I got into the house -- surrendered a guy and killed 2 more with 2 shots. I fired twice in that game and got 3 guys out to finish off the other team. OK so next time i'd probably suck but every dog has his day!!!! -z |

How true. Even this newbie has had good days (like being down 6 to 1 and taking out 4 before getting cut down or like wrapping a whole side while partner holding down snake) and bad days (like yesterday when I was get lit up by pea shooters and tripping over my own feet). |

I usually play with a pump in the morning, a Phantom or Sniper, and only switch to a semi in the afternoon when my old butt is getting tired. I honestly believe that playing with a pump will improve your game skills, you have to think your way through situations, and you have to shoot straight, you can't cover up for other failures by just hosing paint. It's a shame so many players today haven't tried pump, but it seems now most folks just want to be mindless machine-gunners, they don't know what they're missing. |

Of course, that can't top my best story: (*grin*) I've got my PGP in hand, and it's attack and defend, and I'm bored, so I decide to do something stupid. We're attacking, and I'm in position to rush the objective. I *thought* there was one, maybe two guys left. I make a run towards the objective(well, elephantine gait would be more appropriate), a van that the attackers must touch for the win. Since I am going for the glory, I want to eliminate the opposition, rather than touch the van. There is a guy kneeling at the front of the van, I pop him in the goggles, and I'm around the corner of the front of the van before I can reload. There are 7 other guys behind the van. Seven. With nothing left to do but make as much blustery noise as possible, I start *SCREAMING* "SURRENDER!!! SUUURRENDERRRR!!! PLAYER SURRENDERRRRR!!!" and waving my gun around. All seven of them surrendered to me. Then, I realized that one guy was left inside the van, I yelled at him to surrender as well, but he fired back. I come around the van, and pop him in the chest with another shot. That's 9 guys with 2 shots. I think that all my years playing with the original Splatmaster really made
me a better player. i watch the paintball championships on tv and can't figure out why all they do is spray and pray. my kids play that way, and all i have to do is sit in the woods and wait for a clear shot. they go through 1000 balls in the same time i go through 50, and i get as many kills. I'm surprised those guys didn't give you 20 bucks each to never say anything about that again ![]() I got my buddy bill to surrender as he was on the outside wall so I just shoved my phantom through the window and into his side and yelled surrender. He did.. But When i got to the back I saw ryan and was yelled for him to surrender -- but his dad was in the same room and turned around bringing his a5 up, so I shot Ryan, spun behind the door dodging the a5 onslaught, pumped and turned and got him right in the chest. Normally I try to surrender people in the house, but i've been burned more than once trying to surrender more than 1 person at a time. The other guy usually fires while one surrenders -- dang I hate that ![]() 9 with 2 shots wow nice one -z |

We started playing in the early 90's with various pumps -- I had a 'nightmare' (no hopper just 20 shots and a 9 gram) and a pmi piranna. Then we quit playing for a while got back into it in the last few years again. I had given all my paintball stuff to a bud who moved away and last weekend he showed up and dropped all our old gear off -- Just in time for my a5 to go down so it was retro city -- especially when my bro broke a line on his impulse. We old schooled em good this weekend ![]() Thing about pumps are the first shot -- man you gotta be sure you're on target cos once you shoot you've given away your position and can expect a rain of helfire from all those electros. I had never used a phantom before -- it was in with all the old gear. My bud must have picked it up somewhere -- damn nice pump. As much as I love my wood handled piranna the phantom was waaaay more accurate. good times |
