I am looking for some help, and thought this would be the best place to go!
I have a Spyder Imagine, and it never fails...everytime i try to play, within the first few shots of playing i chop a ball! I have a Shocktech Superfly bolt (does it with my stock bolt also, so I'm guessing its not the bolt). I use a Halo TSA hopper and dont think I am out-shooting the feed....I usually am playing around 250 fps and it is pretty consistent. After i take a few shots, it chops a ball, but then will normally shoot fine after i tear it all down and re-assemble it...I am just really tired of doing this EVERY time i play and am looking for suggestions on how to stop this from happening! Any input would be great! Thanks Kai |

(6-7 maybe..really fast)..if any of the paint gets broken, you know you are chopping. If not, but the barrel back on and try again. If it comes out soup, it's the barrel. Your barrell could be too small for your paint, the paint could be out of round or swollen, or there could be a gap between the body and the barrel (especially if you don't screw it on properly) that is catching the paint. Also, you might then try another barrel...borrow another stock Spyder barrel...and see how that works. I have seen cases where one stock Spder baerrel would make paint soup, while another on the same gun, with the same paint, worked fine.... HTH SC |

I am sure its not breaking in the barrel, it is chopping right in the feed
neck and jams the bolt...I know the difference between a chop and breaks in the barrel. I always tear my marker down before i go to play and clean and oil everything thouroughly! There is usually half a ball left in the feed neck and the rest is smashed and jams in the bolt. Is it vertical feed or power feed?

I had a Spyder once... Once...
I finally gave up on mine. It was a POS right out of the box. Did the same crap you are talking about, it was a TL+ and choped paint like a mad man... I found a delrin bolt and that helped a little and I put a Armson barrel on it and got the best results with Marbilizer paint. I also shot about 250fps, only cause that POS would not shoot any faster. Best advise: don't throw good money after bad. Dump the POS and get a Tippmann... ![]() Learned my lesson after spending around $300 for a $169 gun... Good luck to ya, I hope you have better results working out your ball chopping problems than I did... Sounds more like your hopper's not kicking in fast enough, or that you're using
cheap paint. If it's only within the first few shots, it might also be the velocity spiking before a seal sets right. Not common, but possible. Try dry firing it a few times before putting paint through it. Otherwise, I've never heard of that problem through anything, so it could just be a bad bolt or something |

I believe the subject was "chopping paint" if you have had an experience with a Spyder that is similar, please tell us how you in all your great knowledge fixed it. I know I would like to know how the problem can be fixed, if I could have fixed my Spyder, perhaps I would still be using it, I doubt it, I'm kinda liking my A5 these days, but you never know... One more thing Kai, you sound knowledgeable, so you probably already checked this, but one of the other problems I had with my Spyder was the ball detention spring, if you can call it that. It was jammed up and wouldn't release like it should and caused the balls to break in the chamber, make sure whatever the Imagine is using for ball retention is working properly. Sorry my knowledge is not as great as Jon's, but perhaps he can find it in his heart to grace us with his knowledge and cure your ills... Good luck... Stallion... www.mnmilitia.com |

What are they witches? Besides if they have fun playing that way and getting "ranks" and having fun doing it and not killing anyone more power to them. |
