I have a Samsung SCD67 miniDV camcorder. It is Firewire compatible, so I'd
like to upload images and perhaps video into my computer. However, the Samsung software I downloaded into my system isn't working with the camcorder. Is there any retail software I can buy that is compatible with any camcorder, and that will allow me to perform the tasks at question here? -- Mofaz "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) |

You might need to buy a Mac to run it. -- Phelps <http://www.donotremove.net> "You better slap a muzzle on that scaled down piece of evil." -- Space Ghost |

Very funny. *grimaces* You don't know of any software for a Windows PC?

I've had good luck with Windows Movie Maker, which comes standard with XP.
I have also had much success with Ulead Video Studio. But have you tried going to Samsung's website to see if they have an update? Premiere is the only thing that comes close to actually working, and if you pay for that, you have almost paid for an iMac. I have to use Windoze at work, so I've been looking. I still end up just taking it home and using my mac when I have to edit video. I have Final Cut Express here at home, but iMovie is just about what 90% of the home video editing population needs. -- Phelps <http://www.donotremove.net> "You better slap a muzzle on that scaled down piece of evil." -- Space Ghost |

Ulead Video Studio 7 is what I use, you can download a full function trial at http://www.ulead.com. The only other software you will find in that price range is Pinnacle Studio 8 or 9, it looks good on the box and it is a little easier to use than Ulead, but then it crashes every 5 minutes and you would be one of the lucky minority if yu actually got to the point of finishing a project with it. -- _________________________ Chris Phillipo - Cape Breton, Nova Scotia http://www.ramsays-online.com |

My experience with Pinnacle is good so far. It runs fine and renders video
in low and med res. just fine. However, when I do an hour of video running full data rate (around 8GB of data for an hour of video) the system locks up whether I am using Pinnacle or Moviemaker (built in Windows utility). Locking up on the Windows utility makes me think the large amount of data is choking the machine since I only have 256 MB RAM. Although I don't think the software is the problem, I haven't gotten more RAM to verify. You can download Pinnacle for a test as well. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ Jose "Chris Phillipo" <cphillipo@ramsays-online.com> wrote in message news:MPG.1a8998c0132ad97798a38e@news.eastlink.ca.. . > In article <401f3af5$0$33421$4c5eba9e@news.getnet.net>, > sixstringbliss@spaminator.getnet.net says... > > I have a Samsung SCD67 miniDV camcorder. I'm not 100% sure on the name...but I bought a package at Best Buy called "Dazzle"? that will work with any camcorder. The interface is a universal input module that accepts firewire and standard A/V output (you know..the white/yellow/red leads) Then it plugs into the computer's USB slot...and you're good to go!..I believe it was under $100, and comes with editing software etc. SC Yeah...it is dazzle.....here's a link to some reviews and prices... http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...51e15659149b12 |
