Alright, this sucks. The jackass auctioning the BKO has cancelled my bids, and
the price seems to have gone up everywhere else. Would a Dragun T.E.S, an
Intimidator knockoff, be a decent choice for a first tourny gun? It's got an
Eye, and wondering if it would take Intimidator boards or at least an
Intimidator grip, which would in turn take the boards.

Here's a good way to decide on your next gun: read the manual. Almost all of
them can be found online. After reading the Intimidator manual I refused to
go for one.

They seem to shoot great out of the box, but slowly turn to crap. One guy at
our field talked to Tom Kaye and they both agreed that they would have never
believed that there would ever be a "disposable paintball gun over $1k".
Timmies have "accepted wear" that, frankly, I don't "accept" as normal.
Timmies are fast as hell though, and among teenage kids with rich parents,
they're a huge fad right now.

For your first gun, I'd check out Trixes (only things that wear out really
are the o-rings, and you just replace those every year+ or so) and Angels.
Two of the only guns I'll shoot these days.

I could give or take an Angel, but would love a Matrix, but money is the
biggest issue. A Dragon TES is only about 250, which considering the $1K+ for
an actual Intimidator, isn't much. If I don't get something soon, I'll just
hope the JAM bolt for a Spyder lives up to the hype.

I think the TES is still a stacked tube blowback but has the electro sear
and an anti-chop eye. If you look at their product line, The One is the
Bushmaster/Timmy/Angel knock-off. You could also get The One upgrade grip
frame and put it on your Spyder if cost is a real concern, but you want the
electro-pneumatic firing system. Or, you could consider their Dragunfly.
It is based on the standard electro-cocker setup, but theirs uses some odd
sized parts that prevent you from using cocker sized pieces. If you are
trying to stay below $300, I would probably advise you to just stick with
your Spyder as is and get together the $800 it'll take to buy a used high
end marker.

Well, already have a bid on it, anyway, but it's kinda low. Ah well. :P Haven't
heard much bad about it, and me and cheap markers get along well. I've taken
out plenty of people with Mommy's credit card behind 'em, and stand on equal
grounds with the regional-tourny vets on my team with their Impulses and IR3.
Maybe it's more because I'm a defensive mid guy, so don't act how they expect
me to. :P

Ever since the DM4 was released, used Matrix prices have been plummeting.
I'm sure you could find one for pretty cheap. What's your price range?

Right now, about $275. If this bid doesn't win, I'll hold out and save as long
as I can until my first tourny, and might hav $450. Yes, I'm poor. Finishing up
classes doesn't leave enough time for a full-time job.

Besides, I've heard so much about the old 'Trixes being rather inefficient
witht the air. As I don't have the money to get a good marker *and* a
carbon-wrapped tank, I want something'll that'll last a whole game on my 48/3k.

Sounds like a problem. Just remember, I won 1st place at my first 3-man
event (which also happened to be my first tournament and speedball game
ever) with a fuckin' Tippmann M98. If I can do it, anyone can.
