I remember my first marker like it was yesterday...ok it was pretty
nearly yesterday or SEEMED like yesterday, but in fact, it was about 2 years ago. Hmm..actually the painful passage of time has left it's mark, so I really felt every second of it scrape across my life like broken glass on my gums. I guess you could call me a dreamer, or at least while I am sleeping, or call me a cynic, but that only really applies when I am being cynical. Sooo...call me "Kind-Hearted Belzebub" and leave it at that. I believe that many things come full circle, starting the process over and over again in a never ending pattern. Life, Taxes, seasons, circles,...you get the idea. Well, to get to my point, ( I have a point dammit...now just let me think about what it was) With all the fun old and new formats in paintball, with the many games, scenarios, woods, speedball, renegade, vandalism, etc. It has all become tiring to me. It's time to go back to basics. Back to when paintball wasn't called paintball, it wasn't a competition, and it wasn't fun. I'm talking about marking trees. Ahhh. those must of been the days...no 10 foot rule, no surrender rule, no need to bunker. Just walk up to a tree, pull out your $1400 electro-pnuematic bling-bling marker that can shoot 20BPS..and well....mark the tree. Now, I'm not saying you have to mark it WELL, or only hit it ONCE, I'm saying feel free to wipe it off and shoot it again with some of your $100.00 a case ultimate evil paint if you so desire. Paintball has come so far and the technology is now WAY past what it started out as, it would be the PERFECT time to go back to marking the trees. Back to nature, back the the quiet calm forest, critters and flowers. To see and hear the light crackling of dried leaves underneath your $200 Dye paintball cleats.... I have found my calling. THIS is why I bought a marker. Now...you may ask yourself..why do you want to mark the trees? what purpose would that serve? Well, it has always been my dream to be something like Johnny Appleseed...well...actually the complete opposite.... I'd mark the trees to plan some deforestation and some kick-ass urbanizaton! We have plenty of trees to mark...enough for my lifetime and yours...lets get this party started and kill some trees. back to basics my fellow tree-markers, back to basics. So if you see me at a paintball game in the woods, and I am only shooting trees and not the players, don't hold it against me, I'm only practicing . |

Actually, in Texas, you can paint trees purple to mark your property line and post it for no trespassing/no hunting. Maybe you CAN get a paying job marking trees. <http://fri.sfasu.edu/pages/resources/landownbriefs/html/posted.html> -- Phelps <http://www.donotremove.net> "You better slap a muzzle on that scaled down piece of evil." -- Space Ghost |

Whimp! What kind of mamby-pamby whimp shoots at poor defenseless trees.
'Round these parts, we mark cattle when we want to get back to our roots. And, we use the oil base paint so it don't wipe off. (in my new 80$ Outlast pants of course!) Ahhh...the lure of the open range....trodding through fields and pastures...the pungent aroma of fresh cow manure...that's the life! No velocity limit!..crank that suck up to 400fps....the damn cows can't complain! And after awhile they will get wary of you stepping out with your finely tuned Angel or DM4....then...the chase is on! I can picture myself running full speed after a herd of fleeing bovines...my 6 pod harness rattling away behind me...sliding in behind the trough to reload... Yeah....that would be my happy place..... (And if this "mad cow" thing gets any worse...this could work into a real job for the USDA!) SC |

They eventually got used to it so I had to switch to the 12 guage ![]() also sheesh I was going through paint like crazy -- just 1 or 2 7-1/2 quale duck loads does the job much better |

Hrm. How do you "bunker" a cow, much less a herd of cow? I would have thought that the cow would actually BE the bunker, some sort of moving bunker. Imagine that, hearing that description of a game.... "And then, I popped up from the snake, and ran over, and slid into the cow, but the cow didn't like that too much, so she moved, and I got hosed.... then I got shit on, and the cow left, and then someone on the other team lit me up." -- Jeff Goslin - MCSD - www.goslin.info It's not a god complex when you're always right |
