E-5's around the world cringe at you taking while sergeants are E-5s, Sergeant Majors are E-8 as I recall... lesse... in the US Army E-1 is buck private, E-2 is private, E3 is lance corporal, E-4 is corporal (or Specialist 4), E-5 is sergeant (or Spec 5), E-6 is staff sergeant (or spec 6), E-7 is platoon sergeant (or spec-7), E-8 is Sergeant Major, and E-9 is Command Sergeant Major (which are even rarer than 5 star officers as I recall). The marines do it differently and the E-7 for them is a gunnery sergeant I think. In the navy its various grades of seaman and petty officers. Air force uses mix of airmen levels and sergeants, technical sergeants, etc. |

Says the moron who's been posting threats all his life on the internet. The same
moron who's had at least one brick thru the window. Too bad it wasn't a cocktail instead. Bet daddy would at least be able to get his money back from the fire insurance at least. Army Marines E-1 Recruit Recruit E-2 Private Private E-3 PFC Lance Cpl E-4 Corporal Corporal (also SP4) E-5 Sgt Sgt (also SP5) E-6 SSgt SSgt E-7 Sgt 1st Class Gunnery Sgt E-8 Master Sgt Master Sgt E-9 Sgt Major Sgt Major I know the Army just appointed a new Sergeant Major of the Army about three weeks ago. First Sergeants (who can be E-7 and up), Command Segeant Majors (two stars in the stripes) are for staff NCO's. Navy Air Force E-1 Seaman 3rd Airman 3rd (A3C) E-2 Seaman 2nd Airman 2nd (A2C) E-3 Seaman 1st Sr. Airman (A1C) E-4 Petty Off 3rd Sgt E-5 PO2 Tech Sgt E-6 PO1 Staff Sgt E-7 Chief PO Master Sgt E-8 Senior Chief Senior Master Sgt E-9 Master Chief Chief Master Sgt I've had to deal with senior NCO's quite a bit. I lived with an E-8 (retired E-9) for about 25 years. Then I went to work for the Navy. E-1 to E-3 in the Navy are called nubbies by the crows (petty officers), because they don't get stripes, just nubs on their sleeves. |
