would like for people to report this scam should they receive it in their

This has become a popular sort of scam, sooner or later pretty much everyone
can expect to get an e-mail asking them to confirm information for their
bank, internet service provider, PayPal or whoever, and your credit card
info is always part of what they need.

Needless to say, it's fake, cunningly made to look like it's coming from
PayPal or your bank etc., but's it's simply scumbag crooks "phishing" for
your credit card number. Some of the spam e-mails offering products for
amazingly low prices are the same thing, all they want is your CC numbers.

NEVER send sensitive info such as credit card numbers or passwords or so on
to anyone claiming to be from your ISP or bank or a merchant, this sort of
request is always a scam and you must not respond to it unless you like
being ripped off.

I have been getting this message for almost 2 years, the crooks at
paypal are too busy counting their money to do anyhting about it.

Since this scam probably uses a script that collects the login/passwords
and then tries them on the paypal site to verify them, a simple and
common method to combat this requires users to input numbers that are
displayed on a randomly generated image before it will accept their
password, it would also have the added effect of stopping the rampid
hacking of paypal accounts by use of brute force attacks. Now that
won't stop an individual form working this manually of course, for that
I would require a second password for any transaction that involves
money leaving your account that has to be input for each transaction. I
would also implement a report system like my bank's website uses which
displays the time and IP address of the last 5 accesses of your account.
Paypal is basically running a bank system with no more security than
Hotmail uses to protect free email addresses. Personally I think
leaving money or credit card numbers on Paypal amounts to leaving your
wallet sitting on the ATM machine and walking away.
