My work day in a nutshell: I landed at the wrong airport, which was nearly
200 miles southwest of the intended destination. Whoops!

Could be worse. While observing another artillery unit shooting on the
firing range in Petawawa, one of their command post techs transposed
two numbers in a grid reference. The result? The first adjusting
round -- a 33 pound high explosive shell -- was supposed to land near
a small copse about 1300 metres out on our left. Instead, it impacted
atop of a large hill waaaay out on our right, a difference of over
4000 metres. D'oh!

Blessed be those happy ages that were strangers to the dreadful fury
of these devilish instruments of artillery, whose inventor I am
satisfied is now in Hell, receiving the reward of his cursed
invention, which is the cause that very often a cowardly base hand
takes away the life of the bravest gentleman. :Miguel de Cervantes

That's what they get for letting a guy named Mofaz fly the plane.

That is when you grin madly and say, "Fire for effect!"

I do recall my Captain commenting on the shooting skills, or lack
thereof, of the unit in question. Something to the effect of
`Hey, 4000 metres, that's within our lane! Let 'er rip, guys!'

And the Lord said unto the Infantry and the Armour, "When it is dark,
the Gunners shall light thy way. And when you need smoke, there
shall be smoke; and when you need HE, WP, H&I, and counterbattery
fire, all these ye shall have." :Unknown Gunner
