Just thinking about being able to find targets earlier -- at greater
distance through brush and heavy cover. As i've said before I use a flatline a5 RT w/remote so i can wing the paint out there if I could just aquire a target. Today I went into town and thought about finding a pistol scope or similar scope with long relief -- so you cold hold the a5 in normal shooting stance -- something low powered because you only need to see 100-500 feet. My plan was to only use the scope for long shots and to checkout a spot for guys in heavy cammo. So I didn't see anything that knocked my socks off -- didn't hit any major stores cos in the boonies the selection is limited. I work in digital imaging so then I got thinking -- sheesh -- you could rig a ccd camera and pipe that to a 3-4 inch lcd screen and use digital zoom to do simple motion detection. You could even outline the motion in red so you'd have a third eye where your gun was pointing. The algorythm would be complex cos you need to eliminate camera motion, but frame stabalizers exist for camcorders so it can be done. Even if you started with standard CCD + lcd you could focus on the screen but maintain situational awareness -- as you've probably noticed when you look down a scope the world gets very small. An active lcd would provide enough magification for the 500 foot limit, but not distract you from the surroundings completely. Once you got your target you could just ignore the CCD and shoot as normal. heh imagine this integrated into your mask. smartguns -- a little screen showing where ever your gun is pointing I'm gonna investigate this. |

Like .5 degrees of movement on the camera zoomed in 10x is going to make you sea sick ![]() -- _________________________ Chris Phillipo - Cape Breton, Nova Scotia http://www.ramsays-online.com |

Do you carry a full(not half full) canteen, and an entrenching tool (that would be a shovel to us laypeople) and a shaving kit and 2 extra pairs of socks? Give me a fuckin break, you do not carry a mirror for looking around corners. Everybody who wants to sound kewl and into paintball says they do, but nobody actually does. Come to think of it *I* carry a mirror too! Yeah, that's the ticket! I fix it to my bayonet with gum I've taken from my platoon mate's mouth. Then we all yell "covering fire" and send 3 guys to take out the machine gun nest at the top of the draw...
