Has anyone here tried linking 3 or more scuba tanks into a single
manifold to use as a fill station? I'm trying to get an idea how many
fills this would likely yield. I'm not laying out the $15-20,000 for a
compressor just yet

Don't do a manifold. Get three separate fill rigs and cascade fill. Use
one tank for a 1/2 fill, one tank to get to 3/4 fill and top off with the
last. This gives you max high pressure fills from the whole deal. If you
are running a field, my personal recommendation is to just rent 6000 psi
nitrogen tanks and get a pressure controlled filling system. It will be the
best way to go for a field without question.

I agree on the cascading. Only way to get maximum pressure maximum fills.

But ...

I have often wondered about doing a manifold setup to do faster fills while
still "cascading". Then you don't have to move from tank to tank. Just crank
one tank open and then closed at a time doing partial fills along the way.
Would be much quicker!

I thought of that angle, but the manifold would be pressurized and would
have to be bled so you would lose additional pressure every time you
disconnect your freshly filled tank. Of course, you could put an on/off
before the bleed, but now you have a constantly pressurized manifold and 3k
psi is nothing to sneeze at. It's a little more cumbersome, but I think I
still prefer the separate tank system for safety and convenience of setup
reasons.

I agree with Jose, I had and sold my 4 tanks...mine were 4500psi tanks and
worked great ...I just numbered them and went from tank to tank and filled
5-6 guys 4-5 times all day long...Jeff bought one of my tanks and I believe
he likes it.

Yes that's Canadian dollars, the cheapest one I have seen is $8000 and
it was well used and about $1500 to ship.

So cascading is more effective than putting the tanks in series? Doe
sit take much more time to fill them that way? I was think of just
getting 4500psi tanks and only offering 3000 psi fills since most people
here will only be buying PE preset tanks anyway.
