Why don't you download a different reader, like Xnews or Gravity or Free Agent or NewsXpress or something if you can't fix Outlook? -- Jason G [Sig closed for remodeling. I think he's determined to use it until it breaks or fixes itself. ;-)

I was thinking high isolation with the DPDT.

Answer Number 1:
Certainly harder than remembering to change your batteries. Answer Number 2: Too hard to justify adding a backup battery that doesn't provide enough current for the thing to work anyway. Answer Number 3: Certainly harder than using lithium batteries, which which probably still work by the time you manage to break something in your HALO. Now, that said, the easiest thing to do is probably to splice/solder in an extra 9V battery connector to the existing battery connector, and cut a notch in the battery housing cover which allows the battery connector to hang outside the battery housing. Carry 9V in pocket. When HALO fails, attach 9V to clip. Your HALO may even work with the remaining power from the 6 AA's. Of course, there's my solution - I have cut out the back plastic panel from my warp feed, and have 8 1.2 volt high drain digital camera batteries feeding both my warp and halo. Recharge batteries after day of play and there's no way you run out of power. (Actually, could probably go 4-5 days of play or more, but no reason to.) You may be able to just use 6 1.2 V batteries in the HALO, as current (which these suckers provide a lot of) seems to be the limitting factor with the HALO over voltage, but I'm not sure that 7.2 volts is enough to drive the HALO. Also note that you can put up to 12 volts (maybe more, but I know 12 is safe) into the HALO without any trouble, it's got a regulator that brings the voltage down to whatever it uses. If it's a stock part, it can probably handle and input of up to 30 volts before oyu fry the regulator. - Chris On Thu, 9 Oct 2003, Michael Hughes wrote: > ok, my stupid idea of the day is... > > How hard would it be to wire in a switch and an extra battery (9V).
