What is a .45 frame anyway? I'm looking for an M16/M4/AR15 style grip for
my WG-65 R.I.S., so I asked SOG Armory (www.sogarmory.com) if the standard AR15 grip (http://www.sogarmory.com/ProductDeta...oductID=101808) fits a .45 frame. The reply I received asked "What is a .45 frame?". This threw me back a bit, because I assumed all firearms had different size grip frames, and one would be a .45 frame. So, now I'm thinkin' only paintball guns have the so-called .45 frame and un-standard gun frame. -- Mofaz "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) |

I believe that the .45 grip frame was coined from the model 1911 colt .45
pistol. Shoot me if I'm wrong. "Mofaz" <sixstringbliss@spaminator.getnet.net> wrote in message news:3f6f4c8a$0$51845$4c5eba9e@news.newshosting.co m... > What is a .45 frame anyway? If you are a .45 shooter the grip will feel familiar and comfortable is all. I dig my ruger cos i can shoot all day for $20 but if i want to shoot my .45 a lot it gets spendy ![]() |

>What is a .45 frame anyway?
In paintball it is the type of frame modeled after the Colt Model 1911, which means it will accept aftermarket grip pannels (or wrap-arounds like hogue, pachmyr, or whatever) for that same gun. The Dye sticky grips are made to those same specs and will fit the .45 style frame on autocockers, your gun, and many others.. actually, you should be able to put that Dye grip right on a real Colt 1911 style gun... The .45 style is not generally interchangable with the Lonestar or Ramline style grips for the AR15/M16 (like the one in that picture), especially if the guns's entire grip frame/trigger assembly is a one piece design... Most AR15/M16 grips (on paintball guns or real guns) can be replaced with an adaptor - an aluminum frame - which is shaped like the bottom portion of a .45 frame and will accept .45 aftermarket grips. The point being that you can easily convert the AR style grip to a .45, but you can't easily go the other way around unless your grip frame was designed to do so from the outset. As for your Armotech gun, I believe it has a solid one-piece unit and cannot be easily adapted without changing out the whole frame/trigger assembly (or some serious milling).. You might pull the side grips off and see if the lower portion detaches, but it's probably a one piece frame. I never quite understood why Armotech went to so much trouble to cosmetically dress up the gun and then gave it a .45 style grip, when the AR style is probably cheaper/easier to manufacturer. As a matter of fact, a few years ago a lot of paintball guns came with AR style grips, and the .45 was considered an upgrade. I am guessing the Armotech gun is based on something else and the .45 grips were readily available. Billy Goodman - Pukin Dogs http://www.pukindogspaintball.com |

OK, I just saw your other post about having an e-grip. In that case you
absolutely won't be able to replace your .45 frame with an AR type. As far as I know, they do not make grip panels that would simply bolt onto your .45 frame and emulate the AR style grips.. the AR style grip is much smaller and a completely different angle when compared to the .45 Billy Goodman - Pukin Dogs http://www.pukindogspaintball.com |
