Howdy,

I'm 13 yrs old and have recently discovered paintball . I've owned
two pump guns and now am using a Brass Eagle Marauder.....(YuCk!) A
friend has told me he fell in love with tippman..It seems to be a nice
gun(been doing my research) but another friend says spyder! I hefted a
Tippman and the weight is NO problem (farm work pays off but thats
where money comes in...My farm work only pays 15 dollars a week...
(Did i mention i work on my dads farm, so i'm lucky to make that? :-p)
but Christmas and B-Day are coming up soon and sooo....

Are you asking which one to get?
Try them both.
Tippmanns are very popular, and very rugged
I personally don't care for Spyders, but I do like Piranhas. Both markers
are made on the same principle, and many people find little or no difference
between the brands.
The best thing you can do is go to an established field and rent any markers
you may think you're interested in. Use them for a day, and then decide what
you like.

The only thing I would add here is that I have heard of more "out of
the box" problems with piranhas. (And I do like spyders!) Might make a
difference if you intend to buy from a local shop who will support you
on any problems, or if you buy through the internet.

I started with a Spyder(back when they were just "Spyders"), & it was a good
marker...I used it for two years with no trouble, playing virtually every
weekend.. Over the course of that two years, I bought just about every
upgrade available for it, sinking a buttload of bucks into it(not the
markers fault, just my stupidity). Finally, my son bought a 98 to replace
the piece of junk Raptor he was using, & it impressed me enough that I went
out & bought one, too. IMHO, it came out of the box shooting better than my
"hopped up" Spyder, & I stuck with it as my main marker for almost four
years. Of course, now I'm using an automag, and am much happier for it.
The best thing you can do, is try out as many different markers as you can
get your hands on, & see which one fits YOU the best.

I have shot both, myself. Tippmans are nice sturday guns, but I personally
prefer my Spyder. You don't have to do anything to them, but if you o, they're
cheaper in the long run. Besides, the double standard trigger is a nice touch.

Given your money situation, I'd say you should go with what you can afford.
If you're set on Tippman, I have seen a Tippman 98 pack (includes
everything you need to get started) for around $168.00 at a Wal Mart super
center. If that's too much, then take a serious look at a Spyder. I don't
have one myself, but I really haven't heard much that is bad about them. I
have a GT 2000, which I guess is supposed to be a spyder clone, and I love
it. I have _never_ had a ball break during a game, with the exception of
one time when it was raining (we were goofing around more than anything
because serious play was fruitless with the amount of water coming down on
our heads).

I don't usually buy anything paintball related from Wal Mart, but for some
people that's the only resource they have, which is why I mentioned it.

I bought some Tippman Squad Busters at Wal-mart that were a buck cheaper
everywhere else I've looked....

Ok....No offense...but that really didn't help! I have a friend who
has one of the old Spyder Agressor XT's...He says they don't make em
anymore...he is pressuring me to get an XT...says they are great
guns...i've been reading reviews on both...so far what i gather is
that Tippman 98 custom (the one i'd get) is very durable but the
spyder is more efficient with gas....I'm leaning towards tippman
tho....Basically all i'm asking is for pros and cons of spyder
agressor xt's and tippman 98 customs

Still confuzzled

Is your family aware of the industrial revolution? Enactment of child labor
laws? Geez. 15 bucks a week??? Dad's a tightwad, eh?
