WRRRHHHHHRRRHRHRHHHH.
Thanks, folks, that's the only impression I do. But seriously. I just got the new Halo TSA LCD "Backman" hopper, and so far, I really like it. Mine is clear, and runs on two 9v batteries. You're also supposed to be able to run it using 4 AA batteries. (They snap into a little battery holder which then goes in place of the 9v batteries. From the manual, it looks like that adaptor is supposed to be included, though mine wasn't. I'll contact the place I got it and make sure. In any case, the design is pretty cool. If you wanna use the AA battery adaptors, there's a little spacer plate that comes out of the battery tray to make room for the adaptors. If you're using 9v batteries, which take up less space than the AA adaptors, you put the spacer plate back in. That makes it so no matter what you're using, your batteries stay snugly in place.) My first impression: it's longer than a standard hopper, and not too much wider. In fact, it juts in a fairly phallic manor. But that's beside the point. It looks like a fat banana, except that it has some flat sides on it like the AK series of hoppers. And you can tuck 220 paintballs into its voluminous goodness. Lots of gimmicks and gewgaws on it, too, adjustable through an LCD screen and four buttons on the back. Many features are unnecessary, but some are pretty cool. For example, the hopper knows what direction you're leaning it, and it reverses the paddle direction accordingly. So you're always pushing the balls *toward* the hole instead of away from it. It's also sound activated, which I tested by shouting into the hopper. If you hold a loud note, it'll just keep going and going. That should keep me amused for hours. Every motion on that thing is adjustable. You can adjust the sensitivity to sound, you can adjust how long the motor spins when it agitates, and how fast, and you can change the countdown timer duration. It also has a shot counter as well, but I haven't really paid attention to that yet. Another interesting adjustment is that you can set it for "open bolt" or "closed bolt", depending on your marker type. All I think that really does, though is just help the shot counter know how it's supposed to count. Otherwise it'd be off by one, I guess. The plastic seems sturdy enough. Hard actually. Almost like the whole thing is made of Plexiglas, though I know it isn't. The only thing I wish they'd done is build O-rings into the feed tube, like the newer AK hoppers have. That makes it easy to put it in pretty much any feed riser, and holds it snug as well. Eric |
