There has been a lot of speculation lately as rumors have been flying around about a large company within the industry being bought up. Yesterday it was announced that Pev's will merge with Cousins Paintball, a powerhouse franchise in the Northeast and the largest field and store operator.

From 68calibur.com:

Yesterday, Pev's Paintball the leader in Paintball Pro Shops nationwide and the “Largest Paintball Retail Chain in the United States", announced that it has entered into an agreement to merge with Cousins Paintball. The new company will do business under the Pev’s name. As the largest paintball field and store operator in the country, Cousins' expertise in field operations, management, and a deep rooted foundation is sure to compliment Pev's existing operations. The union of the two industry giants creates a company with holdings from New York to Virginia, with over 16 locations. The merger is the largest retail transaction in the history of the sport.

According to Mike Peverill, CEO of the new Pev’s network, “I look forward to joining forces with the Cousins management team and the formation of our new group. With Dean DelPrete serving as V.P. of Retail and Marketing and Todd continuing in his role as COO, we have put together the most powerful retail management team in paintball.”

Dean DelPrete states, “This is a great opportunity for both companies to come together, share our respective strengths and continue to support our customers with the Pev’s brand.”

Paintball enthusiasts in any region with a Pev’s location will benefit from the superior service that this customer oriented organization provides. Both Cousins and Pev’s are well known for their customer support programs, together their strengths and support of these programs becomes more powerful.

Upon completion of the merger, the Pev's network will expand their expertise to new and existing store and field owners. Through a new division, Pev's Franchise Operations (PFO) will sell, service, and support Pev's franchises around the country. Mike Peverill states: "By offering franchise opportunities, we can assist other stores and fields with our combined proven resources developed over the past 15 years."

About Pev's:

Pev's Paintball was founded in 1993 by Mike "Pev" Peverill. Pev, an accomplished tournament player, was able to amass a stockpile of products through tournament winnings and sponsorship. Realizing a need for a Paintball Pro Shop, Pev was able to parlay his surplus products into the beginnings of his first store. Today, Pev's Paintball is the leader in Paintball Pro Shops nationwide and is the "Largest Paintball Retail Chain in the United States". Along the way Pev’s has constructed a dynamic, well managed retail network, a testament to Mike’s brother Todd, the Chief Operating Officer. On the tournament circuits, Pev’s has a tremendous presence both in a retail sense and in support and sponsorship of some of the finest teams to ever play the game.

About Cousins:

From humble beginnings in 1987, Cousins Paintball has grown into the empire that it is today. Dean DelPrete and Paul Sattler, owners of Cousins Paintball and actual cousins, come from a family steeped in retail tradition. Today, Cousins Paintball serves over 100,000 paintball enthusiasts at its three outdoor parks, totaling over 400 acres. In addition to the outdoor parks, Cousins indoor, is a 40,000 sq. ft. facility visited by 20,000 players yearly. With 6 retail stores, Cousins is the “Largest Paintball Field & Store Operator in the United States.”
