21 inches is way way too long. A longer barrel may have a greater effect on accuracy but the longer the barrel the shorter the range (slight effect from friction since it is in contact with the barrel longer and has to travel further to leave it). I would say a 14 or 16 inch is a good length if he likes to snipe.

Is there a certain price point or limit you are looking at? I dont want to suggest any barrels u cant afford.

I would say possibly a good idea is to get him a 14 or 16 inch Smart Parts Freak Jr. Barrel. It costs around $60 and comes with one insert. In the future he can pick up more inserts so he can always get a good paint to barrel match, avoiding barrel breaks and helping with the accuracy.

yeah as a joke i played a bit of speedball with a 21 inch barrel on my timmy, i played front with it too, it was crazy, gogged some dude hard core with it but i might as well have been carrying around a sword instead of a paintball gun it was so ungainly....seriously youd think theyd put a bayonet mount on a barrel that long...neway id deffinetly go with a nice 16 inch very pracitcal
