A highly disputed topic. Lets hear what you guys have to say on this matter. Is it all gun? Is it all skill? Or is it a combination of the two?
Post which you think it is, and why you feel that way

Persoanly i think that most of it is skill but i think it also depends what position you play i mean i think you need more skill if your a front man than if you are a back man, now i'm not saying it doesn't take some sort of skill to be back but not as muchnow i'm not saying it doesn't take some sort of skill to be back but not as much,. For example i am more of a back man, and as long as i can lay down paint for the rest of my team then we will be ok. In short while it takes skill to play paintball i think that the gun defenitly helps out some what.

yeah it's mostly skill but all that about front players have more skill that is crap they may be better athletes but some of the best gun fighters in paintball are back players sooo.

To me its a mix. You can give any noob out there a DM4 and 2000 rounds of paint and let him waste them all in one match, but if that person doesn't have the knowledge and skill to know where to point the gun, then its useless. There are only a few guys out there that could probably run around with a pump and waste a team shooting intimidators or whatever. I dont think you can seriously compete at the top level anymore without shooting a somewhat highend marker (there are exceptions I know I know).
And I wouldnt put back players down. Remember that it is most likely going to be the guy that is in the back who has to move up and finish the game. They need to be just as skilled and knowledgable as any guy out there.

I'm not meaning to put back players down (hell i'm one of them) and i didn't think about it carefully enough. but you put a back player against a front guy on a 1 on 1 and there is a good chance he won't win.

i believe it would be a mix for everyone.. i mean yeah ive been owned by a pump, and a dm4, and a timmy, many of each of these.. but thats cause both me AND my gun suck. but ive seen guys with stock spyders owning and making it look like their not trying, and ive seen a little kid with a 2k2 timmy sitting crosslegged behind a bunker and not shooting at all, or even caring.. my thoughs= 90%player 10% gun

My opinion...90% skill, 10% gun...like BigBoss said, u can have a fast gun...and still suck, sweet spotting, snap shooting, and overall game comes from skill. Mostly in lower level play or recreation, better and faster guns just intimidate newer players, but u have to have the skill in order to use the gun to it's full potential, thats where it all comes together
