listing a price range will help a lot. u better be willing to atleast spend 300 dollars for a good tourney level gun. for the 300-500 price range id go with the ion and maybe some ups. for the 600-800 price range id go for a proto, used DM4, or a cyborg. for the 900 and up price range id go with a DM5 or an ego

I would agree with Nightkast. If you are looking at a decent midrange marker go for either a Proto or DM4/5. You can find some great used markers online, especially DM4s. Protos have dropped considerably in price, and if you are interested get one soon cause from what I hear they are going back to the normal prices soon (of course until the PM6 is released ha ha).
Ions arent a bad idea but if you are looking to tap their full potential and deck them out with the full list of available upgrades (which I do suggest) you'll end up spending more than you intended in the first place anyway, so you might as well go the extra mile and get the Proto. Of course if this isnt the case then go for one, they are solid markers and have really impressed me thus far. I personally own one and it has seen some heavy use without a problem. Stay away from older model Angels and Intimidators of all kinds, cause even though they may be nice, they will probably just give you more headaches.

If you want a good gun to start off with, look into the Smart Parts ION...If you want to go better, Proto Trixes are nice, also Vision Shockers. If you want some of the big stuff, Look into a Macdev Cyborg or an Eclipse EGO...Angels are good but my personal experiences with them are good...

if you want to spend anything under 600 then get an ION, no questions asked, just ION. 600-700? Proto trix is a great deal or you can find a nice used dm4. 700-900....Alias timmys are great guns and can be gotten for that price range. after 900 the sky's the limit. Egos, Dm5s, 2k5 timmys, anything....just personal preference after that. I'd suggest starting out with an ION...they dont seem to be losing any value as of now unlike other markers. I'd stay away from angels though as they lose value EXTREMELY FAST.
