I know this thread is pretty old but anyways you don't need a turtle body, though it seems to be a logical upgrade to go with if you have an MQ valve. The cocking rod screws in and acts as a guide for the back block but has no actual function. I'm gonna get a turtle upgrade anyways, there are upgrades out there that take into account the MQ valve and have no slot for a hammer pin in them.
